Perfect Toilets
The new public restrooms interact with the strength of the original structure, transforming a fragment of industrial archaeology into a useful, essential space open to the city.
The project reinterprets the classic Italian beach hut typology through a contemporary modular language, where the light-colored wooden hut-like structures are aligned along the shoreline. The rhythmic rhythm of the volumes and the integrated green roofs mitigate the visual impact, creating a welcoming and coordinated entrance between the cycle path and the sea.
The project adopts high-efficiency and energy self-sufficiency strategies: the southern slope houses a photovoltaic system (up to 20 kW), while the northern slope introduces skylights for natural zenithal lighting and air recirculation. In addition to accessible restrooms for people with disabilities, the area is designed as a hub for sustainable mobility along the waterfront, integrating e-bike charging stations, bike washing stations, and shaded areas equipped with no architectural barriers.
